Uses of this Medication
Celebrex is an oral pain-relieving drug that is primarily used for the treatment of painful and infrequent conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, and acute inflammatory conditions. Celebrex belongs to a class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to reduce pain and inflammation. It works by inhibiting the release of prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Celebrex is thought to work by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX), an enzyme that produces prostaglandins. COX is responsible for producing the inflammation and swelling in the body, which results in symptoms such as stiffness, pain, tenderness, and inflammation.
Celebrex is effective in reducing the symptoms of pain and inflammation associated with various types of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other forms of inflammatory conditions. It may also be used to treat menstrual cramps.
